Universal Insurance Holdings, Inc. Announces That American Platinum Has Written Its First Homeowners’ Insurance Policies in Florida

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL–(Marketwire – Nov 11, 2011) – Universal Insurance Holdings, Inc. (NYSE Amex: UVE), a vertically integrated insurance holding company, announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, American Platinum Property and Casualty Insurance Company (APPCIC), has written its first homeowners’ insurance policies in Florida. APPCIC currently writes homeowners’ multi-peril and inland marine insurance on Florida homes valued in excess of $1 million, which are limits and coverages currently not available through its affiliate, Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Company (UPCIC).
