Universal Insurance Holdings, Inc. Announces That UPCIC Has Withdrawn Its Application to New York State

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL–(Marketwire – January 4, 2011) – Universal Insurance Holdings, Inc. (“Company”) (NYSE Amex: UVE) announced that its subsidiary Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Company (UPCIC) withdrew its application to provide property and casualty insurance in New York state. UPCIC may in the future reapply to New York state to provide property and casualty insurance.
